How does meditation helps in day to day life?


This question was asked to Vethathiri Maharishi -

Maharishi said - By meditation you are bringing your mind to the subtler state and thereby you achieve sharpness of the intellect and peacefulness in the mind. Would these not be helpful in your workaday life even? If you are engaged in Research or Engineering, for example, you do need steadiness in so that you may become subtler and subtler. For this, meditation is an invaluable aid.

Suppose you find yourself in the aggravated state of mind, start meditation and then you would be able to bring your mind from theta wave to alpha wave. You might not come completely to the alpha wave but you are able to travel near about. Thus your mental frequency is reduced to your advantage and this you can attain as and when you wish. 

Thus by practicing meditation you acquire greater efficiency in your thought and work and that would definitely pave the way for success in life. Having seen for yourself the benefits of meditation you would then be inclined to go deeper into yourself and train yourself to attain peace through equipoise.  - Thanks to Maharishi
